[Mo3S13]2- as a Model System for Hydrogen Evolution Catalysis by MoSx: Probing Protonation Sites in the Gas Phase by Infrared Multiple Photon Dissociation Spectroscopy

Aristeidis Baloglou et al.

Summary: Materials based on molybdenum sulfide are efficient hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) catalysts, with [HMo3S13](-) serving as a molecular model system to study the binding site for H atoms. Through FT-ICR MS and IRMPD spectroscopy, one distinct S-H stretching vibration at 2450 cm(-1) was observed, providing evidence for a terminal disulfide unit as the H adsorption site based on thermochemical arguments and DFT calculations.

Metal-organic framework-derived MoSx composites as efficient electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction

Ha Huu Do et al.

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are crystalline porous materials used for energy-related applications, serving as efficient catalysts for hydrogen evolution reactions (HERs). The modification of Co-based MOFs into MoSx can significantly enhance their catalytic activity, offering hope for replacing noble metals with high-performance catalysts in the future.

Hierarchically Ordinated Two-Dimensional MoS2 Nanosheets on Three-Dimensional Reduced Graphene Oxide Aerogels as Highly Active and Stable Catalysts for Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

Hyeonggeun Choi et al.

Summary: In this study, hierarchically ordinated two-dimensional MoS2 nanosheets on three-dimensional reduced graphene oxide aerogel were successfully designed as a new class of electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). The unique 3D hierarchical structure provided large surface areas and more active sites, resulting in remarkable electrochemical properties during the HER.

Ultrasound assisted synthesis of highly active nanoflower-like CoMoS4 electrocatalyst for oxygen and hydrogen evolution reactions

A. A. Yadav et al.

Summary: This study successfully synthesized a 3D nanoflower-like porous CoMoS4 electrocatalyst through a simple hydrothermal synthesis route assisted with ultrasound for the overall water splitting reaction. The CoMoS4 electrode showed low overpotentials for both the oxygen evolution reaction (250 mV) and hydrogen evolution reaction (141 mV) at a current density of 10 mA/cm(2).
