Skeletal and molecular findings in 51 Cleidocranial dysplasia patients from Turkey

Summary: Loss or decrease in the function of runt-related transcription factor 2 encoded by RUNX2 causes cleidocranial dysplasia (CCD), a rare autosomal-dominant skeletal disorder. Clinical examinations of 51 CCD patients revealed common facial abnormalities and skeletal features, with radiological examinations showing a variety of bone anomalies. Investigation of the RUNX2 gene identified high allelic heterogeneity, with 11 novel changes including a unique variant affecting the long isoform of RUNX2. Mild intra-familial genotype-phenotype correlation was highlighted in this CCD cohort.
