Characterizing Treatment-Resistant Anorexia Nervosa

Sarah Smith et al.

Summary: This study compared eating disorder patients with multiple incomplete inpatient admissions to those with good outcomes, finding that the former group exhibited more severe eating disorder psychopathology and depressive symptoms at admission, as well as a higher prevalence of binge-purge subtype of anorexia nervosa. There were no significant differences in body mass index or frequencies of eating disorder behaviors between the two groups.

Timing of Psychopharmacological and Nutritional Interventions in the Inpatient Treatment of Anorexia Nervosa: An Observational Study

Jacopo Pruccoli et al.

Summary: This study found that patients with anorexia nervosa who received early atypical antipsychotic medication and early naso-gastric tube feeding had a shorter length of hospital stay compared to those who received late medication treatment. The results suggest that early intervention may help improve treatment outcomes, particularly in reducing hospitalization time.
