"House of Cards" is a novel that explores the conflicts in a marriage and the impact of the pursuit of money on human nature. It revolves around the lives of Mridula and Sanjay, an Indian couple, and reveals the changes and conflicts in their relationship caused by Sanjay's ambition for wealth.
Sudha Murthy is an Indian author and known for her short stories, children books and fictions. One of her well known novel is House Of Cards, which presents the life of a typical Indian couple Mridula and Sanjay. Dr. Sanjay opens a clinic with his friend Alex and with the core support of Mridula. The conflict occurs when Sanjay started depositing money in his sister 's bank account without the knowledge of Mridula. This incident starts a conflict between them after the marriage life of so many years. The conflict occurs between Dr. Sanjay and Mridula due to changes in their life that has taken place because of Sanjay's ambition for money. The aim of the paper is to bring the ideas of marriage conflict in the novel House of Cards. It highlights how people changes and losses honesty in search of money and also the nobility and honesty of few people like Mridula, who never change themselves for money.
