First-order condensation transition in the position distribution of a run-and-tumble particle in one dimension

Francesco Mori et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the probability distribution of a single run-and-tumble particle moving in one dimension, revealing a discontinuous derivative near a critical value, corresponding to a first-order condensation transition.

Survival probability of a run-and-tumble particle in the presence of a drift

Benjamin De Bruyne et al.

Summary: The study investigates the survival probability of a one-dimensional run-and-tumble particle in the presence of an absorbing boundary, deriving explicit expressions for the double Laplace transform under arbitrary velocity distributions. It applies the general result to a two-state particle, termed persistent random walk, under various drift conditions, leading to exact analytical expressions for the survival probability and connections with existing formulas in mathematics literature. The research also discusses applications of these results in record statistics and last-passage times.

Exact fluctuating hydrodynamics of active lattice gases-typical fluctuations

Tal Agranov et al.

Summary: By extending recent results on hydrodynamics of diffusive active particles displaying motility-induced phase separation, it was found that the system develops two macroscopic length scales, one related to diffusive length and the other related to collective behavior. The critical behavior of the model belongs to the universality class of a mean-field Ising model in one dimension, with divergence of the latter length scale near the critical point. Additionally, comparison with the ABC model shows differences in the density large deviation function, indicating finite macroscopic extent dictated by the diverging correlation length.

Condensation transition in the late-time position of a run-and-tumble particle

Francesco Mori et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigate the position distribution of a run-and-tumble particle in arbitrary dimensions after N runs, showing a condensation transition occurs at a critical value of R. The transition is characterized by a singularity in the rate function at the critical value, with different characteristics for subcritical and supercritical phases. Our analytical predictions are supported by numerical simulations with high precision.

Position distribution in a generalized run-and-tumble process

David S. Dean et al.

Summary: A class of stochastic processes is studied in which the behavior changes with different values of n, with a localization transition occurring at n = 1/2. The position distribution exhibits different characteristics for different n values, with a transition to a stationary form for n < 1/2.
