Unusual low temperature relaxation behavior of crosslinked acrylonitrile-butadiene co-polymer

Debdipta Basu et al.

Summary: This study reports a new unconventional crosslinking method for acrylonitrile butadiene copolymer (NBR) using zinc chloride, showing interesting relaxation properties below the glass transition temperature. Detailed chemical mechanistic pathways were suggested to explain the low-temperature relaxation dynamics of the crosslinked material. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy analysis revealed a coordination effect between zinc and nitrile groups.
