Beneficial effects of Paeonia ostii stamen tea in extending the lifespan and inducing stress resistance on Caenorhabditis elegans

Jiasong Meng et al.

Summary: The study found that Paeonia ostii stamen tea contains active components with high antioxidant activity. It was also shown that the tea had no negative effects on the growth, reproduction, and behavior of Caenorhabditis elegans, a model animal. In fact, the tea extended the lifespan, improved growth and locomotion behavior of C. elegans, and increased its stress resistance. This study provides a theoretical basis for the production and popularization of P. ostii tea.

Comparative analysis on the quality of Wuyi Rougui (Camellia sinensis) tea with different grades

Xiaomin Pang et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the quality indexes of Wuyi Rock tea, particularly Wuyi Rougui tea, and found that the higher the grade of the tea, the higher the sensory evaluation score. Various components such as tea polyphenols, soluble sugar, and catechins differed significantly between tea grades. The results also suggested that the content of multiple components is the material basis of high-quality tea, and phenols to amino acids ratio, ester catechins to non-ester catechins ratio, and characteristic amino acids are important indicators of top-grade tea.

The Role of Soil Mineral Multi-elements in Improving the Geographical Origin Discrimination of Tea (Camellia sinensis)

Jian Zhang et al.

Summary: The study validated the geographical origin of tea based on the significant correlation between mineral multi-elements in tea leaves and soils. Results showed significant differences in mineral multi-element concentrations between tea and soil samples from different origins, while differences between different cultivars of the same origin were relatively minor. The SLDA model based on 17 key elements achieved a high classification rate, demonstrating the importance of soil mineral multi-elements in identifying the geographical origin of tea.

Detection of Changes in Total Antioxidant Capacity, the Content of Polyphenols, Caffeine, and Heavy Metals of Teas in Relation to Their Origin and Fermentation

Alica Bobkova et al.

Summary: The study analyzed fermented and non-fermented teas from Japan, Nepal, Korea, and China, finding a negative correlation between the total antioxidant capacity and polyphenol content of tea leaves. It also suggested the potential use of heavy metal content as determinants of geographical origin under consistent fertilization conditions.
