Meleagrin from marine fungus Emericella dentata Nq45: crystal structure and diverse biological activity studies

Abdelaaty Hamed et al.

Summary: The crystal structure and unambiguous absolute configuration of meleagrin (1) isolated from fungus Emericella dentata Nq45 were reported for the first time using single crystal X-ray diffraction. In addition to meleagrin (1), other compounds were obtained and their structures were determined by ESI MS and NMR data analysis. Meleagrin (1) showed potent cytotoxicity against human cervix carcinoma cells and antibiofilm activity against Staphylococcus aureus. The producing fungus was also isolated and taxonomically characterized.

Ecofriendly novel synthesis of tertiary composite based on cellulose and myco-synthesized selenium nanoparticles: Characterization, antibiofilm and biocompatibility

Mohammed Abu-Elghait et al.

Summary: The study synthesized a novel tertiary composite (TC) consisting of TEMPO cellulose (TOC), chitosan, starch, and myco-synthesized Se-NPs. The antimicrobial and anti-biofilm properties of selenium nanoparticles (Se-NPs) were effectively established, with TC showing constant biofilm inhibition against P. aeruginosa, S. aureus, and C albicans. However, cytotoxicity results showed alterations in lung fibroblast cells treated with Se-NPs and TC.
