Survey of Movement Reproduction in Immersive Virtual Rehabilitation

Summary: Virtual reality (VR) is a powerful tool for motor rehabilitation, with many effective applications available. Movement reproduction, a key component of VR rehabilitation, transfers users' movements from the physical world to the virtual environment. This article provides a state-of-the-art review on immersive motor rehabilitation using VR, discussing rehabilitation goals and outcomes, technology issues, and user experience regarding movement reproduction. It also presents good practices, highlights challenges and opportunities, and offers constructive suggestions for the design and development of VR rehabilitation applications.
