Additive Uncorrelated Relaxed Clock Models for the Dating of Genomic Epidemiology Phylogenies

Xavier Didelot et al.

Summary: Phylogenetic dating is a powerful method for drawing epidemiological interpretations from pathogen genomic data. However, commonly used relaxed clock models may not be compatible with biological expectations, leading to estimates with low precision and biased confidence intervals. A new additive relaxed clock model has been proposed to address this issue, providing more accurate estimates of evolutionary rates and ancestral dates.

Evaluation of Nanopore Sequencing as a Diagnostic Tool for the Rapid Identification of Mycoplasma bovis from Individual and Pooled Respiratory Tract Samples

Jade Bokma et al.

Summary: The study revealed that Nanopore sequencing is a rapid and reliable tool for identifying M. bovis infections in cattle. Pooling 5 samples for Nanopore sequencing and RIMM is a feasible way to reduce costs and increase the likelihood of M. bovis identification.

Effects of three commercial vaccines against porcine parvovirus 1 in pregnant gilts

Marta Noguera et al.

Summary: This study evaluated and compared the efficacy of three commercial vaccines against porcine parvovirus genotype 1 (PPV1) in pregnant gilts. The results showed that these vaccines were effective in preventing clinical symptoms caused by PPV1, with one vaccine inducing earlier seroconversion and preventing viremia after challenge.

MEGA11 Molecular Evolutionary Genetics Analysis Version 11

Koichiro Tamura et al.

Summary: MEGA software, a mature tool for computational molecular evolution, has been enhanced with new additions for building timetrees of species, pathogens, and gene families using rapid relaxed-clock methods. These additions include methods for estimating divergence times, confidence intervals, and new options for tagging sequences with spatiotemporal sampling information. The enhancements aim to improve user experience, result quality, and the pace of biological discovery.
