Note on the absence of the second clock effect in Weyl gauge theories of gravity

M. P. Hobson et al.

Summary: This paper reconsiders the status of the second clock effect in Weyl gauge theories of gravity, which are invariant under local Poincare transformations and local changes of scale. In particular, the authors revisit and extend their previous demonstration that the second clock effect does not occur in such theories to clarify their argument and confirm their original findings in response to recent counterclaims.

Conformal gravity does not predict flat galaxy rotation curves

M. P. Hobson et al.

Summary: This study reconsiders important issues in conformal gravity, including the predictions of the Mannheim-Kazanas vacuum solution in static, spherically symmetric systems and the rotation curve scenarios in different frames of reference. The authors demonstrate the importance of dynamically generating particle mass through interaction with a scalar field, resolving the frame dependence of physical predictions.
