Fast T-Type Photochromism of Colloidal Cu-Doped ZnS Nanocrystals

Yulian Han et al.

Summary: This study reports on the durable and temperature-independent T-type photochromism of colloidal Cu-doped ZnS nanocrystals. The color changes efficiently under UV light irradiation, with rapid decoloration in solutions. The research highlights the importance of excited carrier dynamics and trap depths for various advanced photofunctional materials.

Controlled Photoinduced Generation of Visual Partially and Fully Charge Separated States in Viologen Analogues

Lu Liu et al.

Summary: A unique method was used to generate a partially charge separated state with a long lifetime during the decay of excited states for viologen analogues, which is significant for photochromic compounds and other applications. The findings shed light on the relaxation processes of excited states and offer a potential design strategy for multicolor photochromism and efficient light-energy conversion.

Origin of the Anomalous Temperature Dependence of the Photochromic Reaction of Cu-Doped ZnS Nanocrystals

Yusuke Sanada et al.

Summary: The temperature dependence of color fading in thermally reversible photochromic reactions is a major challenge for industrial applications. Recent research on Cu-doped ZnS nanocrystals has shown a very small temperature dependence, attributed to a balance between charge recombination and water molecule adsorption/desorption on the surface of the nanocrystals acting as hole acceptors. Developing temperature-insensitive photochromic reactions is important for fundamental understanding of nanomaterials and for creating novel materials for outdoor applications.
