Insights into Antiperovskite Ni3In1-xCuxN Multi-Crystalline Nanoplates and Bulk Cubic Particles as Efficient Electrocatalysts on Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

Hang Su et al.

Summary: The intrinsic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activity and mechanism of antiperovskite Ni3In1-xCuxN bulk cubic particles and multi-crystalline nanoplates are thoroughly investigated. The results show that stoichiometric Ni3In0.6Cu0.4N exhibits the best HER performance, with optimized OH* and H* adsorption free energy. Introducing specific amounts of Ni-Cu pairs helps facilitate water dissociation in the HER process. Moreover, Ni3In0.6Cu0.4N enables spontaneous water adsorption, possibly attributed to the shifted d-band center and polarizing effect from surface In-Cu charge distribution.

Siqi Liu et al.

Summary: The development of efficient photocatalytic system using earth-abundant elements with low costs is highly desirable, and Co3ZnN coupled with carbon black has been synthesized for visible light driven hydrogen production. The replacement of cobalt atom by zinc atom leads to improved charge transfer kinetics and catalytic properties, while carbon black support effectively reduces particle size and enhances electron storage capabilities. The optimal Co3ZnN/C catalysts exhibit a H-2 evolution rate over 6 times higher than monometallic Co4N and outperform most Eosin Y-sensitized systems.
