Highly sensitive optical thermometer of Sm3+, Mn4+ activated LaGaO3 phosphor for the regulated thermal behavior

Ziyang Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the luminescence properties and temperature sensing performance of Sm3+ and Mn4+ co-activated LaGaO3 phosphors, revealing their dependency on ambient temperature and optical behavior at different temperatures. The anti-thermal quenching performance of Sm3+ ions and emission declination of Mn4+ ions were observed, leading to a recorded temperature sensitivity of 4.19% K-1 and 2.09% K-1 based on the fluorescent intensity ratio (orange/red) of the phosphor. The explored film combined with LaGaO3: Sm3+, Mn4+ phosphor showed potential as a multi-color optical thermometer.

An approximate deconvolution method for the luminescence intensity ratio calculations from overlapping emissions

Aleksandar Ciric et al.

Summary: Two experimental practices in luminescence intensity ratio thermometry, based on SD and WS, were analyzed for their performances in the case of sharp emission overlapping with a broad one. A new method named AD is proposed as an alternative, which retains the simplicity of WS while matching the sensitivities of the SD method. Although temperature resolution is not improved, the AD method allows fit to the Boltzmann equation and extraction of physically relevant parameters.

Luminescence intensity ratio squared-A new luminescence thermometry method for enhanced sensitivity

Aleksandar Ciric et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel temperature readout method utilizing thermalized energy levels in trivalent lanthanide ion-activated phosphors is proposed to overcome the sensitivity limitation of ratiometric luminescence thermometers. The method, called luminescence intensity ratio squared (LIR2), combines the advantages of dual-excitation single emission band ratiometric (SBR) and conventional luminescence intensity ratio (LIR) techniques. The LIR2 method demonstrates significantly enhanced thermometric performance compared to SBR and LIR techniques over a wide temperature range (300-850 K).

Summary: A series of LaGa1-xO3:Cr3 phosphors were synthesized and characterized. The compound with x = 0.01 showed the highest photoluminescence quantum yield at room temperature. The temperature-dependence of the optical properties was studied, revealing distinct features in the emission spectra. The thermometry capabilities of LaGa0.99O3:Cr0.01 were demonstrated using the luminescence intensity ratio method, showing excellent potential for thermometry in biomedical applications.

High-Pressure Photoluminescence Properties of Cr3+-Doped LaGaO3 Perovskites Modulated by Pressure-Induced Phase Transition

Hansen Hua et al.

Summary: The photoluminescence properties of Cr3+-doped LaGaO3 perovskites were studied under high pressure, revealing a redshift of the R-line due to a decrease in Racah parameters B and C. With increasing pressure, the N-line luminescence becomes stronger relative to the R-line and can be used to monitor phase transition pressure. The decreased tilt angle of the GaO6 octahedral unit under high pressure enhances the superexchange interaction between Cr3+ ions.
