Unveiling the In Situ Dissolution and Polymerization of Mo in Ni4Mo Alloy for Promoting the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

Wei Du et al.

Summary: It has been found that the Mo element in Ni4Mo alloy exhibits instability in alkaline water electrolyzer, enhancing the hydrogen evolution activity of metal Ni. Theoretical calculations and experimental results have shown that adding MoO42- to the electrolyte can repair the durability of the alloy and enhance the activity of cathodic materials.

Phosphorus doped nickel-molybdenum aerogel for efficient overall water splitting

Bing Zhang et al.

Summary: A P-doped Ni-Mo bimetal aerogel (Ni-Mo-P) was developed as a cost-effective bifunctional water splitting electrocatalyst, demonstrating impressive HER and OER performance with low overpotentials. This was attributed to electron redistribution by Mo alloying and P doping, as well as optimal bond strength between H* and active sites. The Ni-Mo-P catalyst required a low cell voltage to achieve an overall water splitting current density of 10 mA cm-2.

Stable Acidic Water Oxidation with a Cobalt-Iron-Lead Oxide Catalyst Operating via a Cobalt-Selective Self-Healing Mechanism

Darcy Simondson et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the stable operation of [Co-Fe-Pb]O-x in acidic solutions without the addition of Pb2+ and Fe3+, showcasing promising performance in water electrooxidation. Low concentrations of Co2+ are shown to stabilize the catalytically active Co(Fe) sites, allowing for steady water electrooxidation at specific conditions.

Efficient nitrogen reduction to ammonia by fluorine vacancies with a multi-step promoting effect

Zuochao Wang et al.

Summary: This work reports the generation of fluorine vacancies (FVs) for the first time and discusses their regulation mechanism on materials, as well as their role in the electrochemical N-2 reduction reaction (NRR). The FV-optimized catalyst shows good NRR performance, with a significantly higher Faradaic efficiency and ammonia yield compared to the defect-free catalyst. Additionally, the catalyst demonstrates long-term structural stability, making it the most effective non-noble metal catalyst in the nitrogen reduction process under low overpotential.
