Autoantibody profiles in systemic sclerosis; a comparison of diagnostic tests

Wynand Alkema et al.

Summary: The study found that 79% of systemic sclerosis (SSc) patients tested positive for one or more SSc-associated autoantibodies. There was high agreement between different diagnostic methods for detecting SSc-specific autoantibodies, but lower agreement for SSc-associated autoantibodies and less prevalent SSc-specific autoantibodies. Further standardization is needed for low prevalent SSc-specific and SSc-associated autoantibodies.

Profiling of Myositis Specific Antibodies and Composite Scores as an Aid in the Differential Diagnosis of Autoimmune Myopathies

Michael Mahler et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the clinical performance and diagnostic value of MSA profiled by PMAT in IIM patients, indicating that MSA, especially when combined in composite scores, provide significant value in stratifying patients with IIM.

Detection of multiple myositis-specific autoantibodies in unique patients

Nele Van Horebeek et al.

Summary: Studies have shown that detection of multiple myositis-specific autoantibodies in patients with inflammatory myopathies is less rare than commonly accepted, possibly due to specificity issues with commercially available multiplex immunoassays. True "multiple MSA-positive" patients may exist, though they are likely rare.

Dermatomyositis autoantibodies: how can we maximize utility?

Luqman Mushila Hodgkinson et al.

Summary: Significant advances have been made in the research of myositis-specific autoantibodies (MSAs) in patients with dermatomyositis (DM) in the past 15 years. Different MSAs are associated with unique clinical and pathological phenotypes, as well as varying risks for interstitial lung disease and internal malignancy. However, further standardization and validation of assays for different MSAs are still needed.
