Network topology optimisation based on dynamic thermal rating and battery storage systems for improved wind penetration and reliability

Ching-Ming Lai et al.

Summary: This study combines network topology optimization, dynamic thermal rating system, and battery storage system to evaluate their synergistic effects on wind integration and network reliability. The results show that the proposed combination of methods reduces system dispatch, load curtailment, and wind curtailment costs the most when compared to any combinations with fewer methods or using each method in isolation.

AC flashover characteristics and arc development process of glaze ice-covered insulators in natural environment

Chunyu Zong et al.

Summary: Ice accretion on insulators can reduce the creepage distance and lead to flashover trip. There are significant differences between laboratory simulation and field tests, impacting the behavior of ice-covered insulators. Icicle growth on energized insulators varies under weak and high electric field conditions.

Statistical analysis on the DC discharge path of ice-covered insulators under natural conditions

Yanqing Liu et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the flashover problem of ice-covered insulators through a large number of experiments, classifying the flashover paths and analyzing the impact of different types of arcs. The study finds that both the degree of icing and string length have an influence on the flashover path, affecting the distribution of arc types.

Fuzzy Dynamic Thermal Rating System-Based SIPS for Enhancing Transmission Line Security

Mohamed K. Metwaly et al.

Summary: The increased integration of intermittent renewable energy sources into power systems has caused more power grid congestions, leading system operators to require more advanced control methods to alleviate this pressure. The combination of dynamic thermal rating (DTR) and operational tripping scheme (OTS) can effectively improve power adequacy and system security by considering fuzzy numbers to avoid unnecessary generation tripping and blackouts. The novel Fuzzy-DTR-OTS delays generation tripping, enhances power supply adequacy, improves system security, and prevents cascading blackouts.
