Irissometry: Effects of Pupil Size on Iris Elasticity Measured With Video-Based Feature Tracking

Christoph Strauch et al.

Summary: This study applies irissometry, a multi-feature iris tracking method, to investigate the deformation of the iris and its effect on eye position signal during changes in pupil size. The results show that the inner regions of the iris stretch more strongly compared to the outer regions during pupil constriction. The pattern of iris densities across eccentricities and pupil size is highly consistent across participants, highlighting the robustness of this elastic property. Iris-based eye position detection is more stable than pupil-based detection. This study suggests that irissometry has the potential to be used in novel eye trackers and diagnostic tools in ophthalmology.

Identifiability of tissue material parameters from uniaxial tests using multi-start optimization

Babak N. Safa et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the identifiability of tissue material parameters and proposed a practical approach to address the issue of parameter identifiability in tissue mechanics. The research provides a systematic method to assess data fitting and investigate the uniqueness of results in tissue constitutive models.

A survey of iris datasets

Lubos Omelina et al.

Summary: This paper provides a comprehensive overview of existing publicly available datasets and their popularity in the research community in the field of iris recognition. A bibliometric approach was used to review 158 different iris datasets referenced from the 689 most relevant research articles, categorize them, and describe important properties for research. The overview of databases per category aims to assist investigators in identifying relevant datasets for iris recognition research.

In vivo non-contact measurement of human iris elasticity by optical coherence elastography

Shuling Ye et al.

Summary: This study proposed a new air-puff optical coherence elastography system for non-contact evaluation of iris elasticity in vivo, showing a relationship between mechanical properties and morphology of the iris. With its noninvasive and high-resolution features, this system has great potential for clinical ophthalmology applications.

Novel Discoveries of Anterior Segment Parameters in Fellow Eyes of Acute Primary Angle Closure and Chronic Primary Angle Closure Glaucoma

Shuqi You et al.

Summary: The study investigated the biometric differences between fellow eyes of acute and chronic primary angle closure glaucoma patients. F-APAC eyes had thinner peripheral iris, narrower anterior chamber angle, shallower anterior chamber depth, greater lens vault, larger and anteriorly positioned ciliary body compared to F-CPACG eyes. Parameters such as IT 750, AOD 750, and LV played important roles in distinguishing eyes predisposed to APAC or CPAC.

Changes in Iris Stiffness and Permeability in Primary Angle Closure Glaucoma

Satish K. Panda et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the biomechanical properties of the iris during pupil constriction and found that iris stiffness was higher in PACG patients compared to healthy controls, while iris permeability was lower. These findings may have implications for the management of angle-closure glaucoma.
