Silicalite-1 formation in acidic medium: Synthesis conditions and physicochemical properties

Xiaobo Yang et al.

Summary: This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the factors controlling the acidic medium synthesis of high silica silicalite-1 zeolite, including the silica sources, alkali metal cations, and seeds that affect the formation of silicalite-1. The zeolite crystallization kinetics under acidic, neutral, and basic conditions are compared, and the physicochemical properties of zeolites synthesized in different mediums are evaluated. Highly crystalline samples synthesized in the pH range of 2-12 show differences in crystallinity, thermal stability, and local order.

A priori control of zeolite phase competition and intergrowth with high-throughput simulations

Daniel Schwalbe-Koda et al.

Summary: This study successfully controlled phase selectivity in templated zeolite synthesis from first principles by combining high-throughput atomistic simulations, literature mining, and human-computer interaction. The proposed binding metrics distilled from simulations rationalized framework competition in the design of organic structure-directing agents, allowing for the realization of an intergrowth zeolite through a single bi-selective template.

Time-resolved dissolution elucidates the mechanism of zeolite MFI crystallization

Krassimir N. Bozhilov et al.

Summary: The study elucidated the growth mechanism of zeolite crystals through dissolution experiments and structural analysis, revealing the evolving mosaic structure within crystals during growth. Additionally, it showed that dissolution can be used as an effective ex situ technique to uncover details about crystal growth features inaccessible by other methods.
