Summary: Two new Cu(II) complexes with good water solubility were synthesized and characterized in this study. The complexes showed strong inhibitory activity against bacteria and cancer cells, potentially related to their interaction with DNA. In addition, the complexes induced apoptosis in cells through DNA damage and ROS-mediated mitochondrial dysfunction pathways. Moreover, in vivo studies demonstrated that one of the complexes inhibited tumor growth more effectively than cisplatin.
