Spatial separation strategies to control charge recombination and dye regeneration in p-type dye sensitized solar cells

Adel Daoud et al.

Summary: Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) are gaining attention as alternatives to traditional photovoltaic solar cells due to their easy manufacturing methods, understandable operating mechanisms, and environmental friendliness. In these solar cells, the competition between electron-hole charge separation and recombination processes determines the fate of the excited electron, while the type of electrolyte determines the competition between recombination reactions and dye regeneration. Despite early studies on combining p-DSSCs and n-DSSCs to create t-DSSCs, the performance is usually poor due to the competing processes, necessitating improvements in DSSCs. This article focuses on the effects of using NiO as a working electrode and discusses the impact of sensitizer, redox couple, and transparent conducting oxide electrode on cell performance.

Simulation of electronic and optical properties of polyene-diphenylaniline-sensitizers for perovskite n-ZnTiO3 towards efficient dye sensitized solar cells

Adel Daoud et al.

Summary: In this study, four polyene-diphenylaniline dyes were simulated as sensitizers for nano-ZnTiO3-based dye-sensitized solar cells for the first time. The results of the study indicated that D9 dye exhibited superior performance compared to the other dyes, showing the highest power conversion efficiency among the series.

Simulation of the Electrochemical Properties of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells Based on Quinoxaline Dyes: Effects of Hydroxyl Group Numbers and Positions

Adel Daoud et al.

Summary: The study investigated twelve quinoxaline derivative dyes as sensitizers in DSSCs, finding that the number and position of oxygen atoms and hydroxyl groups significantly influence the optical properties of the dyes and subsequently the electronic characteristics of DSSCs. Among the derivatives, the Q(1-7)@ZnTiO3 interface demonstrated the highest values for electronic injection driving force and light-harvesting efficiency. This suggests that the presence of hydroxyl groups plays a crucial role in determining the microscopic and macroscopic properties of DSSCs.
