Dentinal tubule blockage using nanobioglass in the presence of diode (980 nm) and Nd:YAG lasers: an in vitro study

Mostafa Solati et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that high-power laser radiation, such as Nd:YAG and diode (980 nm) alone or in combination with nanobioglass, has a significant impact on blocking dentinal tubules. There was a significant difference in the number of open dentinal tubules between the control group and the other groups, highlighting the effectiveness of the treatments in reducing dentin hypersensitivity.

Quantitative assessment of dentine mineralization and tubule occlusion by NovaMin and stannous fluoride using serial block face scanning electron microscopy

Behrad Mahmoodi et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the impact of NovaMin and stannous fluoride (SnF2) on dentine tubule occlusion using serial block-face SEM (SBF-SEM). Results showed that NovaMin achieved better occlusion than SnF2, leading to increased mineral density and dentine mineralization. SBF-SEM demonstrates potential for high-resolution analysis of bone-like materials for research and development of new biomaterials.

The effects of strontium-doped bioactive glass and fluoride on hydroxyapatite crystallization

Lin Lu Dai et al.

Summary: The study investigated the synergistic effects of strontium-doped bioactive glass and fluoride on hydroxyapatite crystallization, resulting in the formation of strontium-substituted-hydroxyapatite and strontium-substituted-fluorohydroxyapatite with enhanced bioactivity and reduced solubility. This could be beneficial for caries management.

Novel Pastes Containing Polymeric Nanoparticles for Dentin Hypersensitivity Treatment: An In Vitro Study

Manuel Toledano-Osorio et al.

Summary: In this study, dentifrices containing zinc-doped polymeric nanoparticles were found to effectively occlude dentinal tubules and enhance the mechanical properties of dentin. After a citric acid challenge, only the pastes with zinc-doped NPs maintained tubule occlusion, while mechanical properties were reduced in specimens treated with Sensodyne(R). Zinc-doped NPs at the lowest concentration demonstrated acid-resistant tubular occlusion and improved dentin's mechanical properties.

Comparative Efficacy of Cow Milk, KNO3, and Warm Saline Rinses in Treating Dentin Hypersensitivity Following Nonsurgical Periodontal Treatment: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Charu Mohan Marya et al.

Summary: The study aimed to assess the desensitizing efficacy of cow milk compared to potassium nitrate mouthwash and warm saline rinses after nonsurgical periodontal treatment. Results showed that cow milk and potassium nitrate mouthwash had significantly higher reduction in dentine hypersensitivity compared to warm saline rinses.
