Inorganic arsenic species removal from water using bone char: A detailed study on adsorption kinetic and isotherm models using error functions analysis

Susan S. A. Alkurdi et al.

Summary: The study showed that bone char is effective in removing inorganic arsenic from water, with the Sips model providing the best fit for As(III) experimental data and the Langmuir model suitable for As(V) data. At low concentrations, removal was due to intra-particle interactions and pore diffusion, while at higher concentrations, pore diffusion mechanism was ineffective.

Arsenic exposure induces a bimodal toxicity response in zebrafish

Jason A. Coral et al.

Summary: This study investigated the bimodal response of arsenic on zebrafish embryos and found distinct bimodal phenotypic effects. Exposure to arsenic at different concentrations led to varying physiological and morphological abnormalities in the embryos. Tests with dechorionated embryos supported the idea that the bimodal toxicity response was not caused by the chorion limiting arsenic availability.

Label-free colorimetric assay for arsenic(III) determination based on a truncated short ssDNA and gold nanoparticles

Dongwei Zhang et al.

Summary: This study utilized a short ssDNA (Apt-21) derived from the parent As(III) aptamer for colorimetric determination of As(III) by regulating the dispersion of gold nanoparticles while serving as a recognition element. The assay showed a linear relationship between the absorbance ratio of AuNPs at 650nm to 520nm and As(III) concentration, with a detection limit of 0.18 ppb, demonstrating its feasibility by achieving mean recoveries of 96.5-107.1% in spiked water samples.
