Postgraduate studies in energy: a public policy in education to support the brazilian energy sector

This article evaluates the current situation of stricto sensu postgraduate energy courses in Brazil, analyzes 22 programs and 27 courses focused on the energy theme, and calls for more effective public policies to promote the formation of professionals in the energy sector.
This article evaluates the current situation in Brazil of stricto sensu postgraduate energy courses. Based on the Sucupira Platform, 22 programs and a total of 27 courses were identified, master's or doctoral level, focused on the energy theme, with programs enclosed in Interdisciplinary or Engineering evaluation area. The present article was motivated by the concern with the qualify formation of professionals who respond to the growing demand of the energy sector. It was found that 50% of the respective educational institutions have their programs in Interdisciplinary evaluation area and in the Engineering/Technology/Management sub-area. In addition, the number of postgraduates students from 2017 to 2020 was presented, based on the concluded studies. The results call attention to a more incisive public policy to promote the formation of professionals for the sector, which can occur through the National Graduate Plan.
