Metabolomic profiling of M. speciosa champ at different growth stages

Maoyuan Wang et al.

Summary: This study systematically evaluated the metabolomic profiling of Millettia speciosa root extracts at different growth stages. Significant differences were found among extracts from different ages, and 110 compounds were identified. Pharmacological studies suggested that 5-year old roots may have better fat-lowering and hepatoprotective effects, which could be beneficial for improving NAFLD.

Pomegranate fruit pulp polyphenols reduce diet-induced obesity with modulation of gut microbiota in mice

Haizhao Song et al.

Summary: Treatment with pomegranate fruit pulp polyphenols (PFP) reduced body weight gain, steatosis, and insulin resistance induced by a high-fat diet (HFD) in mice. The supplementation of PFP also altered the gut microbiota composition, which was associated with improvements in obesity-related biomarkers.

Regulation effects of indigestible dietary polysaccharides on intestinal microflora: An overview

Yazhong Ge et al.

Summary: The human intestine contains a rich and diverse microbiota that utilizes a variety of polysaccharides to extend the metabolic functions of the body and obtain energy. Indigestible dietary polysaccharides play a crucial role in managing colon health and host health by affecting the metabolic activity of the gut microbiota.

Ameliorating effect on glycolipid metabolism and chemical profile of Millettia speciosa champ. extract

Min Zhang et al.

Summary: Millettia speciosa Champ., a fabaceous medicinal plant mainly distributed in southeast China, has been found to have significant effects in ameliorating glycolipid metabolism disorder, possibly by regulating HPA axis hormones and the IRS2/PI3K/Akt/GLUT4 signaling pathway. Its chemical profile includes alkaloids and flavonoids, suggesting a potential role in regulating glycolipid metabolism. Further research on directed separation and pharmacological activities of MSC is warranted.

Lycium ruthenicum Anthocyanins Attenuate High-Fat Diet-Induced Colonic Barrier Dysfunction and Inflammation in Mice by Modulating the Gut Microbiota

Baoming Tian et al.

Summary: The study suggests that anthocyanins from Lycium ruthenicum (ACs) can reduce weight gain, increase SCFA-producing bacteria, decrease endotoxin-producing bacteria, and lower endotoxin levels by modulating the gut microbiota. This leads to alleviation of colonic barrier dysfunction and inflammation induced by a high-fat diet.

Modulation of Adipocyte Metabolism by Microbial Short-Chain Fatty Acids

Karolline S. May et al.

Summary: Obesity and its complications are a global epidemic with links to gut microbiota. Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) produced by gut microbes impact adipose tissue metabolism, including adipogenesis, lipolysis, and inflammation. Understanding the modulation of SCFAs on adipose tissue function may lead to novel therapeutic strategies for obesity.

Crataegus pinnatifida polysaccharide alleviates colitis via modulation of gut microbiota and SCFAs metabolism

Ciliang Guo et al.

Summary: This study found that the polysaccharide HAW1-2 from hawthorn can alleviate colitis in mice by regulating inflammatory cytokines and inhibiting related molecular pathways. Additionally, HAW1-2 can modify the composition of gut microbiota, promoting the proliferation of beneficial bacteria and generating beneficial short-chain fatty acids to inhibit colitis.

Simone Herp et al.

Summary: The article discusses the presence of trillions of bacteria in mammalian gastrointestinal tract, focusing on Mucispirillum schaedleri which has been associated with inflammatory conditions in the intestine. While the bacteria can promote health in immunocompetent hosts, it has been linked to the development of Crohn's disease-like colitis in immunodeficient mice.

Dihydroquercetin supplement alleviates colonic inflammation potentially through improved gut microbiota community in mice

Fan Wan et al.

Summary: The study found that dietary dihydroquercetin (DHQ) supplementation alleviated DSS-induced colitis in mice, potentially through its modulation of fecal microbiota communities. By increasing the relative abundance of beneficial bacteria such as Lactobacillus and Dubosiella, decreasing the relative abundance of Bacteroidetes, and restoring fecal concentrations of acetic acid and butyric acid, it improved the pathophysiological features of colitis.

Xiao Guo et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of Ougan juice and lactic acid bacteria fermented Ougan juice on preventing obesity in high-fat diet-fed mice. It was found that fermented Ougan juice exhibited a better inhibitory effect on obesity compared to Ougan juice, possibly by promoting white adipose tissue browning and increasing intestinal probiotics.
