Flat-Band-Enabled Triplet Excitonic Insulator in a Diatomic Kagome Lattice

Gurjyot Sethi et al.

Summary: Through density-functional theory calculations combined with many-body GW and Bethe-Salpeter equation, this study reveals the possibility of an interesting triplet excitonic insulator state in a semiconducting diatomic Kagome lattice, with significant exciton binding energy and singlet-triplet splitting. These findings enrich the physics of flat bands and extend the scope of excitonic insulator materials.

Electric-field-driven excitonic instability in an organometallic manganese-cyclopentadienyl wire

Jing Liu et al.

Summary: Excitonic insulators are macroscopic quantum systems with ground states consisting of spontaneously formed and condensed excitons. Research shows that a transverse electric field can drive an organometallic manganese-cyclopentadienyl wire into a unique bright excitonic insulator phase, which can be directly identified by experiment. This could open up opportunities for creating a coherent light source based on the excitonic insulator.

On-Surface Synthesis of Polyferrocenylene and its Single-Chain Conformational and Electrical Transport Properties

Vijai M. Santhini et al.

Summary: This study reports the synthesis of single-chain polymers with metal ferrocene units on a silver surface, achieving atomic resolution characterization using scanning probe microscopy techniques. The transition from metal to semiconductor properties was observed in single-chain electrical conductivity measurements, with a simple transport model established to rationalize this observation.
