Metabolomics and Transcriptomics Analysis of Pollen Germination Response to Low-Temperature in Pitaya (Hylocereus polyrhizus)

Hong-fen Dai et al.

Summary: In this study, the physicochemical indexes, metabolomics, and transcriptomics of low-temperature stored pitaya pollen were studied. The results showed that the pollen germination rate decreased with storage time, and various metabolites and gene expressions were affected.

The effects of pollinizers on pollen tube growth and fruit set of European plum (Prunus domestica L.) in a Nordic climate

Radosav Cerovic et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the progamic phase of fertilization and fruit set in four European plum cultivars in Western Norway, showing different adaptability of both recipient and donor cultivars to specific ecological conditions. The pollinizers Victoria, Opal and C. Lepotica were proven to be very good pollinizers for certain cultivars, while cultivars Opal, R. E. Prolific and Mallard were considered excellent pollinizers for Edda under certain temperature conditions.

Impact of Storage Temperature on Pollen Viability and Germinability of Four Serbian Autochthon Apple Cultivars

Dusica Calic et al.

Summary: This study found that the viability and germination rate of fresh pollen varied under different storage temperatures, with Budimka cultivar showing the highest viability and germination rate. Storage at 4 degrees Celsius extended the pollen viability and germinability, while -20 or -80 degrees Celsius significantly prolonged the pollen longevity for all cultivars. After 6 months, pollen stored at -20 and -80 degrees Celsius had much higher germination rates compared to pollen stored at room temperature for the same period.
