Exergy, economic, and environmental assessment of ethanol dehydration to diesel fuel additive diethyl ether

Mortaza Aghbashlo et al.

Summary: The study examined the process of ethanol dehydration to diethyl ether and found that weight hourly space velocity (WHSV) had a significant impact on the process, while dehydration pressure had minimal effect on the indicators. The optimal dehydration conditions were determined to be 398 degrees C, 82.3 bar, and 2.96 1/h.

Energy, exergy and exergoenvironmental analyses on gas-diesel fuel marine engine used for trigeneration system

Eduardo J. C. Cavalcanti

Summary: This study evaluated the performance of a trigeneration system driven by a dual fuel marine engine through exergy and exergoenvironmental analyses. It was found that the use of gas diesel fuel reduced energy and exergy efficiencies by 87% compared to full diesel mode, but improved environmental performance by reducing pollutant formation. Further recommendations were proposed for controlling pollutant emissions and enhancing exergoenvironmental performance without significant modifications to the engine.

Summary: In this study, comprehensive exergetic and exergoeconomic analyses were conducted on a single-cylinder, four-stroke diesel engine. Different nanofuels were tested at varying engine loads, with D90B10Al(2)O(3) showing the highest exergy efficiency and sustainability index values. Al2O3-doped nanofuel emerged as the best test fuel in terms of exergy, exergoeconomics, and sustainability analyzes.

A review of NOx and SOx emission reduction technologies for marine diesel engines and the potential evaluation of liquefied natural gas fuelled vessels

Jiaojun Deng et al.

Summary: Marine transport plays a significant role in air pollution in the transportation sector, and the development of strict emission regulations and reduction technologies are crucial for reducing ship emissions. Marine alternative fuels, such as liquefied natural gas (LNG), show promise as a way to reduce pollutants from marine diesel engines.

Exergetic, economic, and environmental life cycle assessment analyses of a heavy-duty tractor diesel engine fueled with diesel-biodiesel-bioethanol blends

Homa Hosseinzadeh-Bandbafha et al.

Summary: The study found that substituting a portion of diesel with biodiesel and bioethanol is an attractive strategy from the exergetic, economic, and environmental perspectives. Increasing biodiesel concentration in the fuel blend can improve system performance, while the effects of bioethanol on the indicators were not consistent. Most of the prepared fuel blends were found to be superior to diesel.
