REANN: A PyTorch-based end-to-end multi-functional deep neural network package for molecular, reactive, and periodic systems

Yaolong Zhang et al.

Summary: This work introduces a general deep neural network package for representing energies, forces, dipole moments, and polarizabilities of atomistic systems. The package combines physically inspired atomic descriptor based neural networks and message-passing based neural networks to achieve state-of-the-art accuracy, efficiency, scalability, and universality. An interface with LAMMPs is provided for large scale molecular dynamics simulations.

First-Principles Insights into Adiabatic and Nonadiabatic VibrationalEnergy-Transfer Dynamics during Molecular Scattering from MetalSurfaces: The Importance of Surface Reactivity

Xueyao Zhou et al.

Summary: In this article, recent first-principles studies on vibrational energy-transfer dynamics during molecular scattering from metal surfaces are reviewed. The intrinsic correlation between vibrational energy transfer and surface reactivity, as well as its operation in both electronically adiabatic and nonadiabatic pathways, is highlighted through several representative systems.

Mechanical Vibrational Relaxation of NO Scattering from Metal and Insulator Surfaces: When and Why They Are Different

Rongrong Yin et al.

Summary: Gas-surface scattering of highly vibrating NO molecules on metallic and insulating surfaces exhibit contrasting energy transfer behaviors, attributed to the coupling of molecular vibration with other degrees of freedom. The results emphasize the concurrent influence of initial state and potential energy landscape on the mechanical energy transfer dynamics in gas-surface scattering.

Determining the Effect of Hot Electron Dissipation on Molecular Scattering Experiments at Metal Surfaces

Connor L. Box et al.

Summary: The study examines nonadiabatic effects in thermal and light-driven chemistry on metal surfaces, particularly focusing on the scattering of NO on Au(111). The results indicate that electronic friction theory accurately predicts some aspects of the reaction, but underestimates certain energy loss and overestimates molecular trapping. More sophisticated theories may be required to address these discrepancies in dynamic processes in catalysis and surface chemistry.
