Quantum Droplets of Dipolar Mixtures

R. N. Bisset et al.

Summary: The recent achievement of two-component dipolar Bose-Einstein condensates has opened up exciting possibilities for studying mixtures of ultradilute quantum liquids, resulting in various ground-state phases. The formation of self-bound immiscible droplets is possible due to mutual nonlocal intercomponent attraction. Additionally, quantum fluctuations in the majority component critically modify the miscibility of impurities.

Quantum Droplet States of a Binary Magnetic Gas

Joseph C. Smith et al.

Summary: Quantum droplets can emerge in bosonic binary magnetic gases through the interplay of short- and long-ranged interactions, as well as quantum fluctuations. An extended mean field theory was developed to predict the equilibrium and dynamical properties of these droplets, revealing miscible and immiscible droplet states. The study also found that a single-component self-bound droplet can bind another magnetic component due to interspecies dipole-dipole interactions, with implications for experiments using mixtures of highly magnetic lanthanide atoms.

Mixed Bubbles in Bose-Bose Mixtures

P. Naidon et al.

Summary: Repulsive Bose-Bose mixtures are known to either mix or phase separate into pure components. Here, a mixed-bubble regime is predicted, where bubbles of the mixed phase coexist with a pure phase of one of the components. This effect arises due to unequal masses or unequal intraspecies coupling constants, resulting in a competition between the mean-field term and a nonquadratic beyond-mean-field correction. Parameters of the mixed-bubble regime in all dimensions are identified and implications for current experiments are discussed.

Formation and quench of homonuclear and heteronuclear quantum droplets in one dimension

S. Mistakidis et al.

Summary: The study investigates the impact of intercomponent correlations beyond Lee-Huang-Yang physics on one-dimensional quantum droplets using a nonperturbative approach. The findings show that droplets exhibit Gaussian-shaped configuration with intercomponent attractive couplings, which becomes narrower with stronger intracomponent repulsion and transitions to a flat-top structure under certain conditions. Furthermore, a correlation hole is present at the balance point, and introducing mass imbalance leads to intercomponent mixing and excitation signatures.

Polarons and their induced interactions in highly imbalanced triple mixtures

Kevin Keiler et al.

Summary: This study reveals the polaronic properties of impurities in a correlated trapped one-dimensional Bose-Bose mixture. By varying the coupling of the impurities to bosonic components, the impurity residue peak and induced interactions can be controlled, maintaining quasiparticle character for larger interaction strengths. The findings pave the way for continuously changing the quasiparticle character, capturing bipolaron formation under strong attractive impurity-medium couplings.

Lee-Huang-Yang effects in the ultracold mixture of 23Na and 87Rb with attractive interspecies interactions

Zhichao Guo et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the beyond-mean-field Lee-Huang-Yang (LHY) correction in dilute ultracold quantum gases, particularly in an ultracold mixture of Na-23 and Rb-87 with tunable attractive interspecies interactions. The effects of LHY manifest in the formation of self-bound quantum liquid droplets and the expansion dynamics of the gas-phase sample. The research also reveals an anomalous expansion in the gas-phase mixture following the liquid-to-gas-phase transition, displaying a larger release energy with increasing MF attractions.

Miscibility and stability of dipolar bosonic mixtures

Au-Chen Lee et al.

Summary: Theoretical study shows that dipolar two-component BECs exhibit richer physics than their nondipolar counterparts, with dipoles affecting immiscibility transition and stability differently. Confinement geometry plays a significant role in the ground states and excitations, leading to various phase transitions and crossovers. Phononic and rotonic behaviors are explored, highlighting the impact of dipolar physics in BECs.

Dynamical formation of polarons in a Bose-Einstein condensate: A variational approach

L. A. Pena Ardila

Summary: The study investigates the nonequilibrium dynamics of an impurity coupled to a Bose-Einstein condensate, comparing it with recent experimental results. Analytical expressions for the time-dependent contrast are derived for weak coupling, matching previous findings. The variational ansatz provides a quantitative description of polaron dynamics in strong coupling, especially in signaling the transition from few- to many-body correlated regime where polarons are expected to form.
