Ecologically based methods for promoting safer nanosilver for environmental applications

Arianna Bellingeri et al.

Summary: This study tested the behavior and ecotoxicity safety of novel bifunctionalized nanosilver on microorganisms and microcrustaceans. Acute exposure was not descriptive enough of nanosilver safety, while chronic exposure showed stronger effects and even lethality. Double coating successfully mitigated the ecotoxicity of nanosilver.

Interaction of Aromatic Amino Acid-Functionalized Gold Nanoparticles with Lipid Bilayers: Insight into the Emergence of Novel Lipid Corona Formation

Avijit Maity et al.

Summary: The coating of proteins and lipids around nanoparticles, known as protein and lipid coronas, have promising biomedical applications. The formation of a lipid corona is a relatively new field, where high lipid concentration leads to unique lipid corona formation and low lipid concentration induces aggregation. The interaction between lipids and nanoparticles is time-dependent and influenced by surface charge.
