Pair production of magnetic monopoles and stable high-electric-charge objects in proton-proton and heavy-ion collisions

Wen-Yi Song et al.

Summary: In this study, pair-production models of spin-0 and spin-1/2 magnetic monopoles and high-electric-charge objects (HECOs) in proton-proton (pp) and heavy-ion collisions are described. The Drell-Yan and photon-fusion processes are considered. The leading-order production cross sections of these mechanisms in pp collisions and ultraperipheral lead-lead collisions at the LHC are presented using matrix element calculations and equivalent photon fluxes.

Topologically stable, finite-energy electroweak-scale monopoles

P. Q. Hung

Summary: The paper proposes a model where a topologically stable monopole with a mass proportional to the electroweak scale could exist. This model involves neutrino masses, with right-handed neutrinos being non-sterile and their Majorana masses obtained through coupling with a complex triplet Higgs field. A real Higgs triplet is introduced to ensure custodial symmetry.

Detecting long-lived multi-charged particles in neutrino mass models with MoEDAL

Martin Hirsch et al.

Summary: This study investigates the possibility of observing long-lived multi-charged particles in certain neutrino mass models using the MoEDAL detector at the LHC. The performance of MoEDAL on multi-charged long-lived particles is demonstrated with two concrete neutrino mass models, showing potential to probe regions of the parameter space at the end of Run-3 and the High-Luminosity LHC.

An electroweak monopole, Dirac quantization and the weak mixing angle

John Ellis et al.

Summary: The study investigates an extension of the Standard Model allowing for the existence of magnetic monopoles with a mass of a few TeV. By imposing topological and Dirac quantization conditions, a new value for the weak mixing angle is predicted. The research also suggests that under appropriate conditions on the spectrum of additional particles, the experimental value of the weak mixing angle can be reproduced.
