A conductive network enhances nerve cell response

Fangwei Qi et al.

Summary: In this study, a conductive nerve guidance conduit with a three-dimensional continuous conductive network structure was constructed using prior powder design and laser additive manufacturing. MXene coating was applied on the surface of polymeric particles to create a continuous MXene conductive network. The conduits exhibited excellent electrical conductivity and promoted cell proliferation and neurite outgrowth. This work provides a powerful strategy for fabricating desirable conductive nerve guidance conduits.

Water-responsive shape memory thermoplastic polyurethane scaffolds triggered at body temperature for bone defect repair

Cijun Shuai et al.

Summary: Combining selective laser sintering (SLS) with water-responsive shape memory polymers provides a promising approach to minimally invasive bone defect repair. In this study, a porous bone scaffold made of biocompatible thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) with water-responsive shape memory properties was fabricated using SLS. The results showed that water molecules can interact with TPU, affecting the hydrogen bonding and shape fixation. In vitro experiments demonstrated that the shape-recovered scaffold promotes cell adhesion and proliferation.
