Through experiments and numerical simulations, free vibration behaviors of carbon fiber reinforced composite (CFRC) lattice-core sandwich cylinder (LSC) were studied under different boundary conditions, including end-free constraints, built-in-free constraints and built-in-free constraints combining with attached masses. Built-in boundary condition greatly increases the fundamental frequency and changes the vibration modes. Beam-like vibration mode appears at lower order. Attached masses complicate the vibration modes and greatly reduce the fundamental frequency. A simplified method was proposed to predict the fundamental frequency of LSC with attached masses based on energy method. The model accurately predicts the variation of the fundamental frequency when the mass and its location are changed. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
