Polariton ring currents and circular dichroism of Mg-porphyrin in a chiral cavity

Shichao Sun et al.

Summary: Placing Mg-porphyrin molecules in a chiral optical cavity breaks time reversal symmetry, generating polariton ring currents with circular dichroism signals. The degeneracy of electronic states in the molecule is lifted by chiral polaritons, resulting in a signal one order of magnitude stronger than that induced by circularly polarized light. Enantiomer-selective photochemical processes in chiral optical cavities represent an intriguing future possibility.

Full Dynamics Description of Mg Phthalocyanine Crystalline and Amorphous Semiconductor Systems

D. Potamianos et al.

Summary: Through visible and mid-infrared transient absorption studies of magnesium phthalocyanine (MgPc) organic semiconductors, we developed a model to describe the dynamics and optical response, providing insights into more complex systems. We demonstrated a clear dimensionality difference in the exciton dissipation mechanism between crystalline and amorphous MgPc, resolved through intraband dynamics, and how this can be inferred from interband dynamics using the developed model.

Dynamical Jahn-Teller effects on the generation of electronic ring currents by circularly polarized light

Krishna R. Nandipati et al.

Summary: This study investigates the generation of electronic ring currents in ring-shaped molecules by photoexcitation with circularly polarized laser light in the presence of vibronic coupling effects. The mixing of electron circulation directions and suppression of maximum current due to Jahn-Teller distortions in the electronic states supporting the ring current are highlighted. It is found that the circulation direction of electrons depends on the spectral region of the Hamiltonian, leading to the surprising effect that the same polarization direction of the laser pulse can trigger different electronic dynamics.
