This research investigates the natural frequencies of a beam on an elastic foundation with uncertain material using a Monte Carlo simulation based on finite element analysis. The elastic modulus is assumed to be a homogeneous Gaussian random field, generated using the spectral representation method. An iterative algorithm is used to calculate the natural frequencies with various generated functions of the elastic modulus. The effects of the random field on the variability in natural frequency response and the effects of foundation coefficients are discussed in detail.
This work presents the Monte Carlo simulation based on finite element analysis to investigate the natural frequencies of the beam on an elastic foundation with uncertain material.
