Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction or non-cardiac dyspnea in paroxysmal atrial fi brillation: The role of left atrial strain

A. Katbeh et al.

Summary: The study found that patients with a high probability of HFpEF had older age, higher body mass index, NT-proBNP, E/e', pulmonary artery pressure, and larger LA volume index. The reservoir LAS was identified as the most effective parameter for identifying patients with a high probability of HFpEF.

Clinical Outcomes in Asymptomatic and Symptomatic Atrial Fibrillation Presentations in GARFIELD-AF: Implications for AF Screening

Harry Gibbs et al.

Summary: There are differences in clinical characteristics, treatment, and 2-year outcomes between asymptomatic and symptomatic atrial fibrillation presentations, but major outcomes such as stroke/systemic embolism, all-cause mortality, and bleeding do not differ significantly between the two groups. Anticoagulation therapy shows comparable reduction in these outcomes for both asymptomatic and symptomatic patients.
