Using blockchain technology in IoT manufacture environment for intelligence prediction

Hongling Liu et al.

Summary: This paper highlights the importance of using blockchain technology in the Internet of Things manufacturing. It proposes a blockchain architecture that divides the traditional blockchain into private and public parts, reducing space and network costs. Each workshop maintains its own private blockchain, while the cloud manages the public blockchain, minimizing communication between nodes. Experimental results show that this architecture effectively predicts the space cost of node expansion and reduces network communication overhead.

Scrutinizing blockchain applicability in sustainable supply chains through an integrated fuzzy multi-criteria decision making framework

Ismail Erol et al.

Summary: Sustainability has become increasingly important in constructing resilient supply chains. Customers' demand for sustainable products has put pressure on manufacturers and suppliers to become more sustainable globally. Decision-makers are interested in applying disruptive technologies like blockchain to address societal, environmental, and economic concerns. However, existing research lacks a quantitative examination of the critical functions of sustainable supply chains (SSCs) for blockchain applicability. This study investigates the most feasible functions of SSCs for potential blockchain implementations and suggests that sourcing, delivery, transformation, and product recovery are the most appropriate functions. This research provides valuable insights for decision-makers on where blockchain can create additional value in SSCs.

Administrative risks challenging the adoption of smart contracts in construction projects

Asli Pelin Gurgun et al.

Summary: Smart contracts offer an effective and alternative solution to complex construction contracts, but the construction industry faces numerous administrative risks in adopting them. This study focuses on assessing the administrative risks of smart contract adoption in construction projects through literature survey, pilot study, fuzzy analytical hierarchy process method, sensitivity analysis, and focus group discussions. The top five risks identified include regulation change, lack of driving force, inadequate planning, shortcomings in legal arrangements, and lack of dispute resolution mechanism, with semi-automated smart contract drafting improvements seen as more practical than full automation.
