Improvement on the performance N-(3-methoxypropyl)acrylamide polymer-gel dosimeter by the addition of inorganic salt for application in radiotherapy dosimetry

Molham M. Eyadeh et al.

Summary: The effect of lithium chloride (LiCl) on the dose-response performance of the NMPAGAT dosimeter was investigated. The results showed that increasing the concentration of LiCl improved the dose-response of the dosimeter, with a 4-fold increase in sensitivity observed for the dosimeter with a concentration of 1000 mM LiCl compared to the same dosimeter without LiCl. Changes in dose rate, photon energy, and irradiation temperature had minimal impact on the LiCl dosimeter, while increasing scanning temperature resulted in decreased dose-response, which remained stable for up to 4 days after irradiation.

End to end comparison of surface-guided imaging versus stereoscopic X-rays for the SRS treatment of multiple metastases with a single isocenter using 3D anthropomorphic gel phantoms

Victoria Bry et al.

Summary: The study compared the accuracy of a surface-guided radiation therapy system to a stereoscopic x-ray imaging system for position verification in stereotactic radiosurgery. The results showed that surface imaging demonstrated high accuracy and reproducibility, indicating its feasibility for position verification at noncoplanar couch angles.

Evaluation of an anthropomorphic ion chamber and 3D gel dosimetry head phantom at a 0.35 T MR-linac using separate 1.5 T MR-scanners for gel readout

Lukas Nierer et al.

Summary: This study uses a novel modular phantom to evaluate the dosimetric performance of a 0.35 T MR-linac through repeated PG measurements. The results show good linearity and high reproducibility of the PG dose response, indicating that the MR-linac performs well in terms of spatial and dosimetric accuracy in a non-adaptive setting.

Improved performance of N-(Hydroxymethyl)acrylamide gel dosimeter using potassium chloride for radiotherapy

Khalid A. Rabaeh et al.

Summary: The study showed that increasing the concentration of potassium chloride improved the dose sensitivity of the polymer gel dosimeter by 33%. The R2 values decreased 1.6% per degree Celsius with increasing scanning temperature at 6 Gy. The dosimeter was stable for 2-120 hours after irradiation and showed independence of dose-rate and photon beam energy within specific ranges.

Transition From Manual to Automated Planning and Delivery of Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy Stereotactic Radiosurgery: Clinical, Dosimetric, and Quality Assurance Results

Richard A. Popple et al.

Summary: Properly planned single isocenter VMAT radiosurgery plans exhibit high quality and efficiency. The study compared manual planning with a new automated platform, HyperArc, and found that HyperArc produced high-quality plans with lower Paddick gradient index and mean brain doses, as well as shorter treatment times.

Polymer gel containing N,N′-methylene-bis-acrylamide (BIS) as a single monomer for radiotherapy dosimetry

Khalid A. Rabaeh et al.

Summary: A new low toxic polymer gel dosimeter containing BIS crosslinker was introduced in this study, which showed improved dose response with the addition of various concentrations of MgCl2. The gel samples were irradiated and read out using NMR spectroscopy to measure relaxation rates, with the dose sensitivity significantly increased after adding MgCl2. The dosimeter showed temporal stability, independence of dose-rate and radiation energy, and water equivalence, with an evaluated dosimetry accuracy of 7.04% at 95% confidence level.
