Dry reforming of methane on Ni(111) surface with different Mo doping ratio: DFT-assisted microkinetic study

Wan-Ying Wang et al.

Summary: The effect of Mo surface doping on the catalytic activity and carbon deposition resistance of Ni catalyst was studied using density functional theory (DFT) combined with microkinetic simulation. The results showed that Mo doping improves the electron donating ability of the Ni catalyst and increases the adsorption energy of the intermediate species in the DRM reaction. The Mo-doped Ni catalyst exhibited better catalytic activity and carbon deposition resistance.

Contemporary trends in composite Ni-based catalysts for CO2 reforming of methane

Mohammad Yusuf et al.

Summary: Converting greenhouse gases into valuable syngas through catalytic dry reforming of methane (DRM) is a viable solution, with Ni-based catalysts being extensively used and tested. The main limitation lies in catalyst deactivation due to carbon formation and sintering. Current research focus is on composite catalysts and density functional theory modeling for designing an ideal catalyst.

Nickel-molybdenum catalysts for combined solid oxide fuel cell internal steam and dry reforming

Artur J. Majewski et al.

Summary: A series of supported Ni-Mo catalysts were synthesised and investigated for combined steam and dry reforming, showing improved carbon tolerance and potential for use in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells. Formation of Mo2C improved catalytic activity towards steam reforming, and increasing Mo loading improved coke resistance but reduced catalytic activity.

Nickel/Molybdenum Bimetallic Alloy for Dry Reforming of Methane: A Coverage-Dependence Microkinetic Model Simulation Based on the First-Principles Calculation

Wan-Ying Wang et al.

Summary: Ni-based catalysts are widely studied for their high catalytic activity in dry reforming of methane (DRM) reaction. Mo doping is expected to enhance the carbon deposition resistance of Ni-based catalysts. The study used density functional theory calculations and microkinetic modeling to compare the catalytic activity of Ni and MoNi4, showing that MoNi4 exhibits superior resistance to carbon deposition.

First-principles theoretical study on dry reforming of methane over perfect and boron-vacancy-containing h-BN sheet-supported Ni catalysts

Yan Zhang et al.

Summary: In this work, the entire reaction mechanism of dry reforming of methane (DRM) on different Ni catalyst supports was studied by density functional theory calculations. It was found that the B-defected h-BN binds more strongly to Ni active sites and facilitates electron transfer. Ni-2/h-BN-B-D shows higher DRM activity and stronger resistance to carbon deposition compared to Ni-2/h-BN.
