Topology crafting of polyvinylidene difluoride electrolyte creates ultra-long cycling high-voltage lithium metal solid-state batteries

Jinshuo Mi et al.

Summary: In this study, a multifunctional PVDF-LPPO solid-state polymer electrolyte with branched topology is created by uniformly grafting lithium phenyl phosphate (LPPO) onto polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF). LPPO not only improves the ionic conductivity, fireproof property, and electrochemical stability of the electrolyte, but also suppresses side reactions with cathodes and lithium metal anodes. The study also demonstrates that LPPO significantly reduces the activation energy and enhances the lithium-ion transference number. The experimental results show that the PVDF-LPPO batteries exhibit good cycling stability and suppression of structure transformation.
