Effects of water and nitrogen management on N2O emissions and NH3 volatilization from a vineyard in North China

Yanjie Guo et al.

Summary: In a vineyard experiment in North China, the MWF, OWN, and OWN+DMPP treatments significantly reduced N2O emissions and had little effect on NH3 volatilization. Over the full growing season, these treatments reduced cumulative N2O total and yield-scaled emissions by 27.44-29.23% and 34.66-43.71%, respectively. N2O emissions were positively correlated with soil temperature, WFPS, and NH4-N nitrogen contents, while NH3 volatilization was closely related with soil temperature.

Effect of storage and field acidification on emissions of NH3, NMVOC, and odour from field applied slurry in winter conditions

Johanna Pedersen et al.

Summary: Land spreading of liquid animal manure is a major source of atmospheric emissions. Acidification can effectively reduce ammonia emission, but it leads to increased emissions of volatile organic compounds, including odorous substances and oxidants.

NH3, N2O, and NO emissions from digested pig slurry stored under different temperatures: Characteristics and microbial mechanisms

Yue Wang et al.

Summary: The study found that storage temperature has a significant impact on gas emissions from digested pig slurry, with increased emissions of NH3, N2O, and NO observed at higher temperatures. Controlling the slurry temperature below 15 degrees Celsius can effectively reduce the emissions of NH3 and N2O.

Effects of Environmental Drivers and Agricultural Management on Soil CO2 and N2O Emissions

Marton Dencso et al.

Summary: Understanding the roles of natural drivers and anthropogenic activities in greenhouse gas emissions of arable fields is crucial for adopting appropriate agricultural management practices. This study found that the impact of mouldboard ploughing and no-tillage on CO2 emissions did not differ significantly over a full year, but varied in different sub-periods. No-tillage had a higher impact on both CO2 and N2O emissions compared to mouldboard ploughing.

Effects of drought and rainfall events on soil autotrophic respiration and heterotrophic respiration

Pengfei Zheng et al.

Summary: The return of farmland to forest and grassland effectively controls soil erosion and increases soil organic carbon reserves. The study found that drought significantly decreased soil respiration carbon emissions, while rainfall significantly increased them. Soil respiration responses to climate warming and drought varied, with soil moisture playing a key role.

Soil attributes and microbial diversity on 28 years of continuous and interrupted for 12 months of pig slurry application

Deisi Navroski et al.

Summary: The interruption of pig slurry application had significant effects on the microbial biomass, diversity, and activity in the soil. Bacteria were less affected compared to fungi, which experienced reduced diversity due to the interruption. The results suggest that the interruption of PS application can have lasting impacts on the soil microbiome.
