Selective recognition of ammonia and aliphatic amines by C-N fused phenazine derivative: A hydrogel based smartphone assisted 'opto-electronic nose' for food spoilage evaluation with potent anti- counterfeiting activity and a potential prostate cancer biomarker sensor

Riyanka Das et al.

Summary: In this study, a rapid, selective, and highly efficient chromo-fluorogenic detection method for ammonia/aliphatic amines over aromatic amines was investigated. The novel opto-electronic nose CN-2, synthesized in a single-step via multiple inter/intramolecular C-N fusion reactions, showed the ability to selectively detect different types of aliphatic amines with low detection threshold values. The detection results were well-correlated with the spectrophotometric outcomes, and a smartphone app was developed for colorimetric signal analysis. CN-2 also demonstrated potential applications in food spoilage detection and prostate cancer diagnosis.
