Recognition-Enabled Automated Analyte Identification via 19F NMR

Zhenchuang Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, a detection scheme based on 19F NMR spectroscopy and dynamic recognition is reported. It effectively simplifies the detection signal and mitigates the influence of the matrix on the detection. Automated analyte identification is achieved using a set of three 19F probes.

Uniform water-mediated saturation transfer: A sensitivity-improved alternative to WaterLOGSY

Federico De Biasi et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates how to exploit water spins bound to macromolecules to investigate the binding between small molecule ligands and macromolecular targets. By selectively saturating water spins and using adiabatic off-resonance spin-locks, the noise contribution from bulk water can be removed, resulting in enhanced signals that reveal weak ligand-target interactions.

Tailoring Sensors and Solvents for Optimal Analysis of Complex Mixtures Via Discriminative 19F NMR Chemosensing

Chanjuan Dong et al.

Summary: The study systematically investigated the influence of sensor structure and NMR solvents on the resolution of structurally similar analytes, finding that substituents adjacent and distal to the F-19 labels are both important to the resolving ability of the F-19-labeled sensors. More pronounced separation between F-19 NMR peaks was observed in nonpolar and aromatic solvents, and using a proper sensor and solvent combination, more than 20 biologically relevant analytes can be simultaneously identified.

Electrostatic co-assembly of nanoparticles with oppositely charged small molecules into static and dynamic superstructures

Tong Bian et al.

Summary: The use of small molecules with electric charges can effectively induce attractive interactions between oppositely charged nanoparticles in water, guiding their assembly into colloidal crystals. This approach offers a facile way to fabricate, manipulate, and investigate nanostructured materials in aqueous environments.

Hybrid nanoreceptors for high sensitivity detection of small molecules by NMR chemosensing

Federico De Biasi et al.

Summary: Nanoparticle-assisted NMR chemosensing combines magnetization transfer NMR techniques with the recognition abilities of gold nanoparticles to isolate the NMR spectrum of relevant organic species in mixtures. The efficiency of magnetization transfer plays a crucial role in setting the detection limit, and the second generation nanoreceptors with better magnetization transfer performances allow for the detection of analytes in water down to 10 μM concentration using standard instrumentation.
