An efficient and simple procedure for synthesizing 3,4-dihydropyrimidinone or 3,4-thioxopyrimidinone is disclosed in this study. This new approach utilizes acetic acid as an organo-catalyst and molecular sieves as water absorbent, maintaining an eco-friendly protocol. The method involves solvent free conditions, short reaction duration, and easy isolation, resulting in high yields compared to the classical Biginelli reaction.
An efficient and simple procedure for synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidinone or 3,4-thioxopyrimidinone maintaining eco-friendly protocol by introducing acetic acid as an organo-catalyst in presence of molecular sieves as water absorbent is disclosed. This new approach includes solvent free condition, short reaction duration, and easy isolation with high yield over classical Biginelli reaction.
