Electrical performance evolution and fatigue mechanisms of silver-filled polymer ink under uniaxial cyclic stretch

Gabe Cahn et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the performance of a stretchable silver-filled conductor under high-strain cycling, showing a close relationship between crack depth and resistance increase, and that fatigue life is mainly influenced by strain amplitude.

Electromechanical Characterization of a Highly Stretchable Liquid Metal Derived Conductor for Wearable Electronics

Behnam Garakani et al.

Summary: The study investigates the application of a highly conductive liquid phase conductor on a thermoplastic polyurethane substrate and analyzes its electrical resistance, microstructure, and morphology. The results demonstrate that the conductor exhibits fatigue-free performance during 8000 cycles of fatigue cycling at strain amplitudes of 30% and 50%.

Printed Stretchable Conductors for Smart Clothing: the Effect of Conductor Geometry and Substrate Properties on Electromechanical Behaviors

K. U. S. Somarathna et al.

Summary: Smart clothing embeds the capability of sensing, responding, and adapting to environmental stimuli into textiles to provide functional, fashionable, and comfortable solutions for everyday human needs. Integration of electronic functionality into textiles is essential for realizing the true potential of many smart clothing applications. The ability of electronic systems in smart clothing to stretch without significant deterioration in electrical properties is a key performance requirement.
