Impact of H0 priors on f (T) late time cosmology

Rebecca Briffa et al.

Summary: This paper presents a detailed analysis of the impact of H-0 priors on five f (T) cosmological models, using cosmic chronometers, the Pantheon data set, and baryonic acoustic oscillation data. The authors find that these priors have a strong response in terms of all the cosmological parameters.

A Comprehensive Measurement of the Local Value of the Hubble Constant with 1 km s-1 Mpc-1 Uncertainty from the Hubble Space Telescope and the SH0ES Team

Adam G. Riess et al.

Summary: This study reports observations of Cepheid variables in the host galaxies of 42 Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) using the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) to calibrate the Hubble constant (H (0)). The observations were collected over four decades and significantly improved the precision of the direct determination of H (0). The study presented multiple verifications of Cepheid photometry and explored different analysis variants to assess the sensitivity of H (0) determination. The baseline result for H (0) was found to be 73.04 +/- 1.04 km s(-1) Mpc(-1).

Cosmological constraints on the gravitational constant

Mario Ballardini et al.

Summary: We study the variation of the gravitational constant on cosmological scales in scalar-tensor theories of gravity and constrain the coupling parameter and imbalance Delta using Planck 2018 CMB temperature and polarization data, as well as BAO measurements from BOSS. The results show a correlation between Delta, the coupling parameter, and the Hubble constant, allowing for a larger value of the Hubble constant. Future observations can further reduce the uncertainty in Delta.

Dark Energy Survey Year 3 results: Cosmology from cosmic shear and robustness to data calibration

A. Amon et al.

Summary: This work presents the Dark Energy Survey Year 3 cosmic-shear measurements and cosmological constraints based on an analysis of over 100 million source galaxies, while a companion paper provides further details. The measurements are consistent with the Λ CDM model and yield precise results for the clustering amplitude and S-8. The low-redshift measurements agree with the Planck Cosmic Microwave Background result, but the high-redshift prediction is lower. The measurements demonstrate internal consistency and robustness to calibration systematics and blending of galaxies. The precision of the cosmological constraints is mainly limited by modeling baryonic effects and intrinsic alignments.

Dark Energy Survey Year 3 results: Cosmology from cosmic shear and robustness to modeling uncertainty

L. F. Secco et al.

Summary: This paper presents cosmic shear measurements and cosmological constraints from the Darki Energy Survey (DES) Year 3 data, using over 100 million source galaxies. The lensing amplitude parameter S-8 is constrained at the 3% level in the ΛCDM model, and the robustness of the results to modeling of intrinsic alignments is explored. Constraints from other weak lensing experiments and the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) are compared, and the statistical preference for different complexity intrinsic alignment models is examined.

Cosmological Constraints from Galaxy Cluster Sparsity, Cluster Gas Mass Fraction, and Baryon Acoustic Oscillation Data

Pier-Stefano Corasaniti et al.

Summary: In this study, constraints on a flat Lambda CDM model were inferred using measurements of cluster sparsity from weak-lensing mass estimates of cluster catalogs. These measurements are advantageous for being insensitive to selection and mass calibration bias, providing constraints on a degenerate combination of Om and s8. The combined likelihood analysis with cluster gas mass fraction measurements and BAO data yielded competitive cosmological constraints compared to other standard cosmic probes.

Summary: The study reconstructs the free function of f(T) gravity using a combination of observational data, finding that the obtained function is consistent with the standard ΛCDM cosmology within 1σ confidence level but exhibits oscillatory features. Parametrizing it with a sinusoidal function with only one extra parameter, the study proposes a small oscillatory deviation close to the best-fit curve and within the 1σ reconstructed region.

Toward a concordance teleparallel cosmology. Part II. Linear perturbation

Mahmoud Hashim et al.

Summary: Research suggests that late-time cosmic acceleration through modifying gravity on large scales can alleviate tension with local measurements while staying within the minimal parameter space of ΛCDM. Although the best fit parameters of the theory are nearly identical to ΛCDM, inclusion of BAO data reduces H0 and reveals systematic deviations, also present in supernova distances and structure growth rate.

Toward a concordance teleparallel cosmology. Part I. Background dynamics

Mahmoud Hashim et al.

Summary: The study investigates the cosmological viability of an infrared corrected teleparallel gravity model assuming a spatially flat universe. It shows that despite being physically different, the model is equivalent to ΛCDM in terms of phenomenology and statistics, while being more adept at accurately fitting observational constraints and reducing the H-0 tension without worsening the S-8 tension. This calls for a full examination of the empirical viability of the theory at the linear perturbation level.

Model-independent reconstruction of dark sector interactions

Summary: The study relaxes the minimum coupling assumption between dark matter and dark energy fields, reconstructs the interaction in the dark sector independent of the ACDM model, and finds consistency with the ACDM model at 3 sigma CL. However, the current background data do not rule out the possibility of interaction in the dark sector. Euclid and SKA are forecasted to distinguish interacting models with about 4% precision at z approximately 1.

Early modified gravity in light of the H0 tension and LSS data

Matteo Braglia et al.

Summary: The early modified gravity model proposed involves a scalar field with nonminimal coupling to the Ricci curvature, showing potential in alleviating the H-0 tension while fitting well with CMB anisotropies and BAO data. The scalar field in the model remains frozen in the radiation era, growing near matter-radiation equality and dampening into coherent oscillations due to a small effective mass induced by a quartic potential, ultimately leading to weaker gravitational strength at early times. Comparative analysis with other models suggests that this EMG model can significantly alleviate the H-0 tension when considering the full shape of the matter power spectrum in addition to CMB and SN data.
