Site-specific scaling relations observed during methanol-to-olefin conversion over ZSM-5 catalysts

Toyin Omojola

Summary: The conversion of methanol over ZSM-5 catalysts and the mechanism involved were studied in this research. It was found that dimethyl ether served as a major surface oxygenate and a source of surface methoxy species. The activity of the catalyst can be improved by optimizing and selectively tuning the active sites during the conversion of methanol to olefin(s).

Spatiotemporal Coke Coupling Enhances para-Xylene Selectivity in Highly Stable MCM-22 Catalysts

Deependra Parmar et al.

Summary: This study identifies a zeolite catalyst that can optimize both p-xylene selectivity and feed utilization in toluene alkylation with methanol reaction. The zeolite MCM-22 (MWW) demonstrates exceptional catalyst lifetime under high operating pressure, conversion, and selectivity. The research uncovers the catalytic behavior of different active sites in distinct topological features of MCM-22, revealing the contributions of sinusoidal channels and supercages to high p-xylene yield and catalyst stability. The findings propose a spatiotemporal coke coupling phenomenon to explain the multistage p-xylene selectivity profile and highlight the importance of coke nature in catalyst performance.

Conversion of methanol to propylene over SAPO-14: Reaction mechanism and deactivation

Ye Wang et al.

Summary: Methanol to olefins (MTO) reaction is an important non-oil route to produce light olefins, but achieving high ethylene or propylene selectivity is still challenging. This study used a unique catalyst, SAPO-14, and employed real-time product sampling and various testing methods to reveal the reaction pathway and deactivation behavior of SAPO-14. These findings provide important insights for the development of characteristic methanol to propylene (MTP) catalysts.
