A new effect on the mechanical characteristics of aramid threads was observed when their surface was treated with an aqueous carbon nanotube suspension. While the average tensile strength limits and modulus of elasticity remained practically unchanged, the statistical parameters characterizing variation of properties, such as dispersion, range, and coefficient of variation, significantly decreased.
A new effect of the influence on the mechanical characteristics of aramid threads was observed when their surface was treated with an aqueous carbon nanotube suspension. Upon treatment, the average tensile strength limits and modulus of elasticity remain practically unchanged, but the statistical parameters characterizing variation of properties, i.e., dispersion, range, and coefficient of variation, diminish perceptibly.
