Whole genome sequencing of multidrug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolates collected in the Czech Republic, 2005-2020

Matus Dohal et al.

Summary: The emergence and spread of drug-resistant tuberculosis pose a threat to public health. This study used whole genome sequencing to analyze the diversity, drug resistance mechanisms, and transmission chains of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis strains in the Czech Republic. The majority of drug-resistant strains belonged to the Beijing lineage, with some strains belonging to the Euro-American lineage. Cluster analysis revealed several clusters, with a majority located in the Prague region.

Xpert MTB/RIF Ultra enhanced tuberculous pleurisy diagnosis for patients with unexplained exudative pleural effusion who underwent a pleural biopsy via thoracoscopy: A prospective cohort study

Shan Gao et al.

Summary: The Xpert-Ultra assay showed high sensitivity and specificity in diagnosing TB in patients with unexplained pleural effusion. Combining pathological examination with Xpert-Ultra testing can further enhance diagnostic accuracy, especially for biopsy tissue diagnosis.

Diagnosis of tuberculosis pleurisy with three endoscopic features via pleuroscopy

Chung-Shu Lee et al.

Summary: By using semi-rigid pleuroscopy to analyze three simple pleuroscopic images, TB pleurisy can be differentiated from non-TB pleurisy with a high positive predictive value and excellent negative predictive value. The characteristic features include sago-like nodules/micronodules, adhesion, and discrete distribution.
